KIPHS SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

As a result of recent enhancements and improvements to the KIPHS system, many counties are asking about becoming a KIPHS site. This document is intended as a general outline of the hardware requirements and preliminary information we would need in order to discuss implementation timing and training requirements with you. To initiate the process simply respond to the questions posed below and fax or mail your response to us. If you have questions please feel free to contact us at:

Hardware and Network

As you are probably aware, computer processing speeds and size continue to increase dramatically, and at the same time the price continues to drop. Although most of the current vendor offerings are more powerful than required to run KIPHS we believe the best strategy is to buy the current newest versions, since Microsoft and others continue to increase the operating requirements associated with their software.

Printers

We use Printer Control Language (PCL) codes for formatting in our printing.  PCL is a language developed by HP for controlling printers and it is pretty standard in inkjet and laser printers.  Most inkjet printers "speak" PCL3 and most laser printers "speak" PCL5 (with the exception of HP 710,720, 820 and 1000 deskjet series).  We require that your printer can accept or emulate the PCL language.
